Unfortunately in order to get to that euphoric moment you have to jump through hoops.
Write the bloody thing. There is no point in having a really good idea if you don't write it down! It can be a slow, arduous process or quick and easy. Either way - it needs to be done.
As Hemingway said - "The first draft of everything is s**t." So rewrite it - be critical of your own work and don't get precious about what you have written - be prepared to use the delete key.
The SCARY part. Submitting the damn thing. So you've written it, rewritten it and beaten it into shape. It may well be the greatest story ever written but if you don't let anyone read it (judge it) then what's the point?
I'm in the middle of Hoop Three at the moment. I have just sent Part 3 of the Blue Jackets, Thursday's Child in to my publisher and am awaiting their response. Knees are knocking!
