Today I was moved to tears. By a book. A book I've never even read. I was in cold, darkened room looking at a book that was written around 700 A.D. It had a deeply profound effect on me. The fact that someone had sat 1300 years ago and copied the book, word for word, for months and it had survived.
That book was, of course, the Lindisfarne Gospel.
A book that has been revered by millions, read by thousands and brought at least one deeply cynical man to tears.
If you can get to Durham and visit the book then please do. It is worth every second of your time.
I also visited Durham Cathedral for the first time since I was a school kid. I was so impressed by the building and I could only imagine how they managed to create such an impressive and detailed building. Glorious!
Nothing to report on the writing side...
