It's nearly my birthday. Not something I enjoy...

But onto brighter news! The second part of the Blue Jackets, 'Growth Spurt', has been released. There was a minor hiccup with formatting that has been corrected which is a weight off my mind.

I am very pleased with this story as it is closer to my original vision than Induction ended up being. I need to thank my publishers for this. They understand both the business of writing, the technical aspects and my overall vision. So thanks to them for their help.

Had a bit of a personal wobble but was able to work through it with help from a friend (thanks S.J.!) and the positivity is back. Part 3 is barreling ahead great speed and my story, 'A Quiet Night In' is available in Static Movement's Halloween Frights Vol II.

And finally, a call for Twitter followers @GeordieWriter and for my Facebook page, facebook.com/TheBlueJackets

My life is going so well at the moment that I am worried that I may seem smug but, despite the obvious problems I have, I am proof that Attitude is Altitude.

Currently I am sitting with the contract for Growth Spurt and just last night I had the "double-check" email to make sure the text on the cover will be right; I can't wait to see it! Books To Go Now have also commissioned a new cover for Induction which I am happy with.

A while ago I wrote a story for Static Movement's Halloween Frights anthology I have just received my Contributor Copy. Two firsts here, I've never had a complimentary copy before = WIN! and it's a HARDBACK that's limited to a print run of 15=EPIC WIN!!

Just goes to show - believe in yourself and things happen. Focus On what you can do. Not what you can't...

Well yesterday I went to York to meet with one of my publishers, Jennifer Conner and her husband Bill. They are in the meeting as many of the Books To Go Now authors as they can and organising events. Unfortunately the event we hoped to have in Newcastle didn't happen (but will at a later date) so I jumped on a train to York to meet them.

I spent a lovely hour or so talking about a variety of writing related subjects, foremost of which was promotion and Jenni was a wonderful, warm and funny person. Her husband also was a great person but I saw less of him as he was visiting the railway museum.

After the meeting I decided to have a look around York and visited the obvious 'touristy' places then did my usual thing of just picking directions at random. I got myself thoroughly lost - great times. I got some fantastic photos and this one is one of my favourites:

I had a great day and it really is a fantastic city but one of the most wheelchair unfriendly I have ever been to. Most of the shops are completely inaccessible, which given their age is understandable, but a bit of shame none-the-less...
